1. PrepInterview Copilot (Chrome extension): local processing and storage

• Resume data: The resume text you save in the extension is stored only in your browser's local storage (chrome.storage.local). The extension does not upload it to any server.
• Job descriptions: The extension reads the job description on the LinkedIn page you are viewing only to calculate your skill match and gaps on your own device.
• The "Prepare for this interview" button: When you click it, your browser opens prepinterview.online in a new tab and passes the job title, company name and job description text in the link. Your resume is never included in that link.
• Your control: "Clear All Data" in the extension popup deletes everything the extension stores. Removing the extension also removes its data.

2. Extension permissions

• storage: Used only to remember your saved resume and preferences in your local browser profile.
• *://*.linkedin.com/*: Required to read the job posting you are viewing and to show the match card on LinkedIn job pages. The extension does not access your cookies, credentials or messages.

3. Web application (prepinterview.online)

When you use the web application, you may provide:

• a resume (PDF, from which we extract the text),
• a job description, job title and company name (typed, pasted, or passed from the extension), and
• your answers to practice interview questions, either typed or recorded with your microphone.

We do not keep a database of resumes, audio recordings or transcripts. This information is held in memory for your session and is discarded when the session ends. There is no account to create. The application does not use your data for advertising.

4. Third-party services that process your data

To provide the service we rely on the following providers:

• Third-party AI service provider: Your resume text, job description, audio recordings and answers are sent to a third-party AI service to generate predicted questions, transcribe your speech, act as the interviewer and write your evaluation.
  Beta notice: During this beta we use the AI provider's free API tier. Under the terms of such free ("unpaid") tiers, the provider may use submitted content and responses to improve its products and machine-learning technologies, and human reviewers may read and annotate it after it has been disconnected from our account. Please do not upload information you consider highly sensitive, and consider removing your phone number, home address and other contact details from your resume before uploading. If we change plans or providers, we will update this policy.
• Razorpay: Payments are processed by Razorpay. We never see or store your card, UPI or bank details. After you pay, we receive the payment ID, status and amount from Razorpay and use them to confirm your payment and unlock your access.
• Hosting providers: Our web application and website are hosted on third-party platforms, which may automatically log technical information such as IP address and browser type.

Because the job description and title are passed in a web link when you come from the extension, they may appear in your browser history and in the hosting providers' technical logs.

5. Payments and access

The Pro Pass is a one-time payment. To unlock it you paste your Razorpay payment ID, which we check with Razorpay. We do not create user accounts or store your payment details. Keep your payment receipt, because it contains the ID you need to unlock access again in a new session. Refunds are described in our Terms of Service & Refund Policy.

6. Your choices and rights

Because we do not keep resumes, recordings or transcripts, there is normally nothing stored on our side to delete. You can stop at any time by closing the session and clearing the extension's data. If you believe we hold personal information about you, or you have a question or complaint about how it is handled, contact us at the address below and we will respond within a reasonable time. Where applicable law (including India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023) gives you rights to access, correct or erase your personal data, you can exercise them the same way.

7. Children

PrepInterview is intended for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

8. Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle your information, we will update this page and the "Last Updated" date above.
